Homemade Zoe Daily 30+ Mix

Tomato soup with the homemade daily 30+

The Daily 30+ is a mix of 30+ plant-based foods blitzed to make a crunchy high fibre topping for sweet or savoury dishes.

The initial idea was developed by ZOE, the gut health advocates who promote personalised nutrition using a daily blood sugar monitor and by testing your poop.  I’ve a lot of time for the company but their products and services tend to be quite expensive for daily use and only available either online or in specific shops. Their Daily30+ mix is available in Waitrose which has not stores in NI where I live or online.

I loved the Daily 30+ idea though as all the science tells us that having a wide variety of plants each day (which translates to weekly, monthly, yearly and forever) is the way to better health for all.

I’m particularly interested in supporting women over 50.  Women in this age bracket often feel the best of their life is past and the worst is yet to come.  They often feel they are crumbling under the pressure of aching joints and brittle bones, wacky hormones, memory loss, fatigue and weakness.  In clinic I have found that when women support their gut health, and focus on slowing down the loss of muscle mass and managing weight, they can substantially reduce symptoms like tiredness, low energy, poor sleep, sluggish digestion, constipation, IBS, and also manage, slow down and even reverse conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and osteoporosis.

On to my Daily 30 +

I didn’t have all the Zoe ingredients, I had a good 31 of my own to include, with all the bases covered. I suggest you make it to suit yourself, what you have, what you like and don’t liked.

Of course you’re looking for high fibre, whole food and plants, but after that, anything goes.

Even if you don’t have 30+ give it a go for what you have.

My first batch was a savoury sweet concoction with some dried fruit but also herbs and seeds and nuts and spices.

My ingredient list for this batch.

Food processor with mix of seeds
My mix pre blitzing

Flaxseed, chia seeds, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, coconut flakes, pecan nuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, pistachio nuts, almonds, cashew nuts, nutritional yeast, cacao nibs, dried cranberries, dried mango, seaweed flakes, dried ginger powder, thyme, turmeric, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper, Celtic salt, dried hibiscus leaves, yerba mate leaves, cinnamon, chick pea flour, chilli flakes.

Total 31

I didn’t measure but had more seeds than nuts, less dried fruit, pinches of the herbs and spices.  I was a bit generous with the salt because it’s the good stuff.  Table salt will not work here.  The dried hibiscus leaves and yerba mate leaves were for making herbal tea so you could try adding whatever herbal tea mix you have.  I’ll maybe add some oats next time.

How to use it

I added the mix generously to so many dishes.  scrambled eggs, omelette, porridge, yogurt and fruit, salad, on top of avocado and sourdough, sprinkled on chilli’s and curries.  I keep it on the counter top to remind me.

Let me know if you give it a go.

And of course feel free to buy the original ZOE Daily30+ if you can afford it and can access it (either in Waitrose or online). It's a great product
